In a significant revelation, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has officially implicated The Resistance Front (TRF) in the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The report highlights TRF as a proxy outfit of the proscribed terror group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), with clear logistical and ideological support from Pakistan.
This marks a critical development in the global narrative around Pakistan’s alleged harboring and support of terrorism, especially concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
What the UNSC Report Says
According to the latest UNSC monitoring team’s report, TRF was directly involved in orchestrating and executing the Pahalgam attack that killed several civilians and security personnel. The report points to:
- Organizational ties between TRF and LeT
- Training camps and planning operations based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)
- Recruitment through online radical propaganda targeted at youth in the Kashmir Valley
What is The Resistance Front (TRF)?
TRF emerged in 2019, shortly after India revoked Article 370. Though presented as a “homegrown” militant group, intelligence agencies and now the UNSC have confirmed its strong operational and strategic ties with LeT, a UN-designated terrorist group based in Pakistan.
TRF is essentially a rebranded version of LeT, created to give the appearance of an indigenous movement and reduce international scrutiny on Pakistan’s role.
Pakistan’s Denial and International Scrutiny
Despite repeated denials by Islamabad, the UNSC report strengthens India’s long-standing position that Pakistan sponsors cross-border terrorism. The report includes intelligence from member nations and corroborates findings from earlier dossiers submitted by India to global agencies.
