⚠️ Surge in Recalls Across the U.S.
Interestingly, the Power Stick recall is part of a larger trend. Over the last two years, the U.S. has seen a concerning rise in product recalls, many of which are food and personal care items.
In 2024 alone, nearly 300 food recalls were issued, resulting in 1,400 reported illnesses, according to a report from the Public Interest Research Group. Among those cases, 487 people were hospitalized, and 19 deaths were confirmed. These numbers are double the hospitalizations and fatalities linked to foodborne illnesses in 2023.
🥣 Another Major Recall: YoCrunch by Danone U.S.
Just recently, Danone U.S. also issued a full recall of its YoCrunch yogurt products after consumers found sharp plastic fragments in the dome topping compartments that typically contain mix-ins like Oreos or M&M’s. These fragments could pose serious choking hazards or cause injuries.
Fortunately, the issue affects only the topping container, not the yogurt itself. The recall spans several lot numbers and expiration dates ranging from July 7 to September 4. For full details, you can check the complete product list [here].
