On Thursday, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck Delhi-NCR, with tremors felt across North India. The quake originated from Jhajjar in Haryana, with its epicenter located 10 kilometers beneath the surface. A similar earthquake had occurred earlier in February, highlighting the region’s seismic vulnerability. According to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, Delhi falls under Seismic Zone IV, which indicates a high risk of moderate to severe earthquakes.
Eathquake in Delhi : On Thursday morning, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Delhi-NCR region, with its epicenter located 4 kilometers northeast of Jhajjar, Haryana, at a depth of 14 kilometers. Tremors were felt in Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and several nearby areas. In Delhi, people rushed out of their homes as household items began to shake. The tremors were also felt in parts of western Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut and Shamli — nearly 200 kilometers from the epicenter.
According to reports, the earthquake occurred at 9:04 AM, causing a brief moment of panic among residents. Although no immediate damage or casualties were reported, many people shared online that the tremors lasted for about 10–15 seconds and described it as the “longest earthquake” they had felt in years.
